Look at a few dominoes and ask: what should we count, the tiles or the dots on them? Both answers are correct. A count only makes sense once you define what you are counting.

That definition is the counting template. It tells the app what to look for in your photo.

Moving beyond simple shapes to real-world complexity

Real items rarely look as tidy as dominoes. Their appearance changes with the camera angle, the way they are piled and the light around them. That is why we train every template by example, on many real photos from real customers.

How items are piled

Neat stacks, loose heaps and overlapping items all change what the app sees.
Lighting and shadows

Bright sun, dim warehouses and hard shadows change edges and contrast.
Background

Busy or similar-looking backgrounds make items harder to tell apart.

Works best when your photos match. A template is most accurate when your lighting, background and camera angle are close to its training photos. If they are not, we can optimize an existing template or create a custom one.
