CountThings from Video detects, tracks, and counts items in motion. Point a camera at a conveyor belt, a loading dock, or a livestock chute, and the software counts continuously in real time.

It works with live camera feeds and recorded video on Windows, and like our photo app, we build a custom counting template trained on your specific items and environment.

The offline difference: secure, on-device counting

A counting photo can expose production volumes, shipment cadence, SKU mix, and facility workflows. For organizations operating under GDPR, HIPAA, ITAR, or strict customer agreements, sending that imagery to the cloud creates risk.

CountThings processes images directly on your device — not in the cloud. No external storage, no internet required. That also means counting is uninterrupted in remote sites where Wi-Fi and cell connectivity is limited.

Every count captures more than a number. CountThings can record GPS coordinates, timestamps, barcode scans, and custom form fields — giving you a complete record of what was counted, where, and when.

Is CountThings right for you?

AI counting apps like CountThings are incredibly effective for operations that count standardized items in relatively controlled environments. And we can handle high volumes – in fact, the more volume you have, the more time we can save you.

But AI counting apps are less accurate in environments that have an immense variety of non-standardized products – like grocery stores with 30,000 SKU's, convenience stores, and warehouses with jumbled piles that contain irregular items.
